A Walk To Remember!

11 Apr

Today was the last day of spring break. The weather was gorgeous, sunny and warm. So Tatsuya and I decided to take a walk over to the park near our house and look at the sakura. It ended up becoming quite an adventure!

Here are a couple of pictures we took when we first got there. So many lovely cherry blossoms!

Before long, we began to encounter some food stands and picnickers!

Look, you can see our house from here! It’s that orange brick building in the center of the photo

After walking through the crowd, I decided to walk back down again, this time with the camera recording. This, my friends, is Japan during the cherry blossom season!

Before long, we decided to move over to the other side of the stream and walk back.

Here is a cute picture of a daddy and daughter watching a man play harmonica:

And here is me with a delicious chocolate-covered banana! Hmm, those clouds in the background seem a little ominous…

By the time we were nearly back where we started, the clouds started rolling in and the wind started to blow. And this is what happened next:

Crazy, right? I was covering my eyes because there was so much dust getting kicked up by the wind. It hurt! Afterward, the stream was choked with cherry petals… it looked like snow!

In the end though, we had a good time. We stopped at Yoshinoya restaurant for an early dinner, where we picked out cherry petals stuck to our hair and clothes. The wind turned the weather rather chilly, so we hurried home to take a hot bath and relax.

And guess what? It’s supposed to rain tomorrow! I guess the lessoned learned here is that the spring weather here in Japan changes on a dime. And we have the documented proof! I swear, all of our pictures and video were taken not much more than within the span of one hour.

Happy Spring, everyone!

Wow beautiful sakura. I’m glad you didn’t trip over anything while you were videoing; Tatsuya must have had your back. The weather reminds me of Spokane; crazy as you know. Thanks for the trip to Japan. Love, Mom. XXOO.

The cherry blossom trees are beautiful! So do they have the food stands in the park every weekend or just during the spring? Looks like you guys had a fun day, despite the wind, I love the unexpected, it keeps things exciting. Love, Jessica

you know, i’m not sure. i just assumed the food stands were there to capitalize on picnickers, since eating food under the cherry blossoms is the traditional thing to do. perhaps they stick around during the summer, but i don’t know. i guess when we make our way over there again sometime, we’ll see!

hope you, aaron, and the girls are doing well. has your hubby come home from training yet?
